My kind of "Roadie"
This is an original, one of a kind encaustic painting with a drawing of a roadrunner. It is painted on a cradled birch panel measuring 10 x 10 x 1.625 inches. The sides of the panel are natural wood.
The painting is wired and ready to hang on your wall. It can be framed, if desired, but it isn't necessary.
Encaustic paint is beeswax and damar resin melted together. I make my own paint, and add pigment to color the wax. The damar resin gives the beeswax strength, and it also gives the finished painting a lovely sheen. The roadrunner drawing was transferred to the surface of the painting after the colors were applied. I also used a thread dipped in wax to create the delicate line near the bottom of the painting.
