Tough Guy - an original oil painting on cradled birch panel of a black tailed jackrabbit
This oil painting is of a black tailed jackrabbit that I photographed when it visited our desert back yard when we lived in Joshua Tree, CA. The painting is based on the photograph, however, the photo is merely to remind me of the rabbit's visit. It is the moment I had, in the presence of the jackrabbit that inspired the painting. I draw all my wildlife freehand, so exaggerations and drawing "imperfections" are an important part of my work.
It was painted on a cradled birch panel, measuring 30 x 30 inches. The sides of the painting have been left unpainted, showing the birch panel for a simple, contemporary finish.
The cradled panel is approximately 1 5/8 inches deep.
The art has been wired on the back and is ready to hang on the wall.
It has been signed by Karine Swenson on the front and back of the painting.
